Came in here for a late night dinner a couple of times during a recent visit to Boston. One of the better restaurants in Chinatown for authentic Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is very stereotypical Chinese with older furniture, tanks full of live fish and lobster and staff eating at a nearby table.....none of which bother me at all!!! What counts is that the staff were friendly, the prices were great and the food was fabulous!!! Here's what we tried:
Hong Kong Pork Chops, Ma Po Tofu, Chinese Vegetable, Young Chow Fried Rice, Salt and Pepper Squid and cooked Oysters in black bean sauce!!!!!
Ma Po Tofu was a tad oily but other than that everything was amazing and I believe the pictures speak louder than my words can!!!!
Hungry just writing about it! WILL BE BACK!!!! -

I was in Boston and went to Chinatown to get authentic Cantonese food. I was given the name of this restaurant by a Chinese woman who lived in the area and appeared to know real from fake Chinese food. (FYI-I am Chinese).
I ordered Salted Fish chicken fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, black bean squid, and tofu and mushrooms. The fried rice was very authentic and good. That was the only good dish in the whole group that I purchased. The Kung Pao chicken was very westernized - almost all peanuts and celery; very little chicken. It was spicy though. The other dishes were fairly tasteless.
The restaurant was full of people so I'm not sure if I got a bad cook, if it's a bad restaurant, or if the clientele was not very discriminating in the their Chinese food palette. As good as the fried rice was, I will not return here again the next time I go to Boston. -

It used to be a good spot for Chinese seafood until we got disgusting service at the front door here last night. They refused to let us sit inside even though there were multiple tables empty. She told us the big tables are for large group but gave the table to another group with same number of four in a minute.

Jade Garden is one of the few places in Chinatown that has consistent food and service. Family dinners have always been held here and we've never really had any issue with the quality of the food. Some of our favorites include Fried Milk, Sweet and Sour Pork Chop, Peapod Stem, Crispy Chicken, Fresh Scallops with ginger and Fish Maw Soup. Space is kind of tight but they do have a few big tables for large groups. If you do have a large group, I recommend making reservations!

After a night of drinking my friends wanted some Asian food- specifically congee. Where to find it? At an Asian place that is open late! Of course.
We got seated right away. The server was Asian thuggish but super chill. We asked for congee, which we didn't see on the menu, he said it's on the secret menu. So we ordered a bowl. We also told him to surprise us with a spicy seafood dish. He came out with spicy fried shrimp. Both were super good! The shrimp was definitely spicy. And the congee has some meat and thousand year old eggs.
We ate it all! Delicious for some late night snack... and also very cheap. Came out to $6 per person for 5 of us. Good way to end the night! Lol.
